The Feynman Technique
The Feynman Technique is named after Richard Feynman, a Nobel Prize winning physicist. This technique can help you learn pretty much anything as it tests your understanding of concepts. It comprises 4 main steps.
1
🌷 Pick a concept you've studied and write its name on top of a blank piece of paper.
🌷 Pick a concept you've studied and write its name on top of a blank piece of paper.
🌷 On the page write down an explanation of the concept, in simple English. Write it as though you're teaching the concept to someone who has never studied it before. By doing this you'll come to see what you understand and where you have gaps in your knowledge. This will help pinpoint where you have trouble in understanding the concept.
🌷 Look over what you've pinpointed as weak in your understanding and review it. Go back to your books and study it until you're confident that you've learned it this time. Repeat step 2.
🌷 In repeating the process, you should continue to simplify your language and even use simple analogies to help in your explanation. Be careful of paraphrasing what you read in your textbook, it should be in your own words for the most part.
It's that simple and straightforward! Incorporate it into your studying routine and watch as you begin to understand concepts in a much better way.
